The model evaluation is updated on Wednesday. The first seven days of analyses are compared with Sea Level Anomaly,
ARGO-CTD (Temperature and Salinity), XBT (Temperature),
and satellite Sea Surface Temperature.

RMS and bias of SST
Weekly averaged RMS error and bias (model-satellite) is calculated for SST since 01/01/1999.
The analyses are compared
- with satellite reanalyses before 10/07/2008
- with SST data produced in delay time mode from 11/07/2008 to 31/08/2010
- with SST data produced in near real time mode from 01/09/2010 until last week.
Forecast SST map comparison
The forecast SST evaluation is calculated for the first four days of MFS forecast produced last Friday.
Model daily mean surface temperature is compared with satellite surface temperature measured in night time.
Optimal interpolated satellite SST values are masked by optimal interpolation error (must be less than 10%).

Mean misfits are calculated from 30/11/2009 to 24/01/2011, 8 weeks.
Misfit abbreviations: P - persistence, A - analysis, F - forecast.
Skillscore are calculated as skillscore = 100%*(1-FA/AP).
